Can symptoms be good and bad?

Did you know that 80% of people will experience back pain in their lifetime?!Symptoms whiteboard

Pain definition: A highly unpleasant physical sensation caused by illness or injury.

The purpose of pain: Pain serves as an alert to potential or actual damage to the body. I think the purpose of pain is the most interesting insight into pain – POTENITAL or ACTUAL damage. Think about when you bang your elbow (or any body part). Sometimes it really, really hurts – actual damage. Sometimes, before we recognise if there is pain, we say ‘ouch!’ as your brain remembers that sometimes it is actual damage. Maybe this time it doesn’t actually hurt – Potential damage.

But what does this mean for you? Your nerves respond to pressure, stretching, temperature changes and chemicals. At this point, signals are sent to your brain for evaluation. Your brain interprets them: pain – Yes or No. Yes: Your brain will make you aware that something is wrong. If your brain does not evaluate them properly, you may experience pain even if there is no damage (potential damage) or can develop into a chronic pain condition. Chronic pain conditions are where your brain incorrectly interprets the information as pain which may not be appropriate.

Chiropractors are specialists in assessing and correcting spinal subluxations. Subluxations are when your spinal joints have less motion, reduced mobility, or function. This reduces how well your nerves and nervous system communicate and relay information to your brain, causing your brain to function poorly. This can contribute to your brain making poor decisions about actual or potential damage. By correcting your subluxations, you will have a better functioning brain and nervous system which more accurately be aware of your body and it’s function! Chiropractic care can literally help your brain make better decisions. AWESOME!
