It’s a common question we hear:
“I’ve already seen a physiotherapist (or osteopath) – can I still see a chiropractor?”
The simple answer is yes, absolutely! Seeing a chiropractor after, or even alongside, physiotherapy or osteopathy can be perfectly appropriate and often very beneficial. Here’s why.
1. Different Approaches, Shared Goals
Physiotherapists, osteopaths, and chiropractors all aim to help you move better and feel better, but they do so in slightly different ways.
Chiropractors specialise in the spine, joints, and nervous system – using precise adjustments to restore movement, reduce pain, and improve function.
2. It’s Common to Try More Than One Approach
Many people who visit our practice have previously seen a physiotherapist or osteopath. Sometimes their pain has improved but not fully resolved, or they’re looking for a fresh perspective and a different type of care.
We will always take the time to review your history, listen to your experience with other treatments, and tailor a plan that builds on what’s already been done.
3. Safe, Professional, and Collaborative Care
Chiropractors in the UK are regulated by the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) and trained to assess, diagnose, and manage musculoskeletal conditions safely.
If you’ve recently had physiotherapy or osteopathy, your chiropractor will consider that information carefully before starting care. In some cases, they may even recommend combining approaches – for example, chiropractic adjustments alongside ongoing exercise rehabilitation can give you the best possible outcome.
We’re also happy to communicate with your previous practitioner (with your consent) to ensure your care is coordinated and consistent.
4. A Fresh Look at Your Body’s Movement
Even if you’ve had previous treatment, it’s not unusual for underlying movement patterns or joint restrictions to remain. Chiropractic care focuses on restoring optimal spinal and joint function, which can often make a noticeable difference – even if you’ve already had other forms of therapy.
Our goal is simple: to help you feel better, move freely, and get back to doing what you love.
If you’re ready for a fresh perspective on your pain or mobility – or simply want to see what chiropractic care can add to your recovery – we’d love to help.
