Understanding How Chiropractic Care Is Professionally Managed and Safe

When it comes to your health, it’s natural to want reassurance that you’re in safe, qualified hands. Chiropractic care is a highly skilled healthcare profession – and in the UK, chiropractors are strictly regulated to ensure patients receive safe, effective, and ethical treatment.

The General Chiropractic Council (GCC)

All chiropractors in the UK must be registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC).
The GCC is the statutory body established by law to regulate the chiropractic profession. It ensures that every practising chiropractor meets the required standards of education, training, and professional conduct.

This means that anyone using the title ‘chiropractor’ must:

  • Hold a recognised chiropractic qualification.
  • Be registered with the GCC.
  • Adhere to the GCC’s professional Code of Practice.
  • Keep their skills and knowledge up to date through ongoing professional development.
  • Be fully insured

You can easily check if a chiropractor is registered by visiting the General Chiropractic Council’s website and searching their online register - just click THIS LINK to find our Chiropractor Laura.

Education and Training

Becoming a chiropractor requires extensive education and clinical training. Our chiropractor, Laura, completed five years of full-time study to achieve her Master of Chiropractic (MChiro).

This degree includes in-depth study of anatomy, physiology, neurology, and biomechanics, as well as many of hours of supervised clinical experience. Laura continues to expand her knowledge through professional development to ensure her patients receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care – at least 30 hours each year!

Professional Insurance and Patient Safety

In addition to GCC registration, all practising chiropractors must hold professional indemnity insurance.
Naturally, Laura is fully insured, giving you added peace of mind that your treatment is delivered safely, ethically, and in accordance with professional standards.

Why This Matters for You

Choosing a chiropractor who is registered and fully qualified ensures you’re receiving care that meets the highest professional standards. Chiropractic care is about more than just treating pain – it’s about supporting your overall health and wellbeing, safely and effectively.
